Willow Fourth Graders Have a Dream

Willow’s fourth grade students studied Martin Luther King Jr. this year and learned about his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Inspired by MLK, students wrote about their own dreams for a better future, one defined by compassion, integrity, equality, sustainability, peace, and kindness.

Read fourth grader Elizabeth’s speech about her dream of a more kind world and watch a compilation of the fourth graders speeches below:

“I have a dream that people will be kind to each other and that they will be treated the way they want to be. People should not be judged for what they look like. Everyone is equal. Everyone is a person, so make sure you show compassion. This is our hope and dream: to be kind.

With this dream, we can make a difference. With this kindness, we will work together, knowing that we will make a difference. I hope we can all spread more kindness and live kindly.

We want peace, not war. We need people to get along. If we don’t, we will never be able to do the things we need to do. If we don’t work our problems out together, nothing will ever get fixed. We need to accomplish more by making good choices and being kind. Violence is a big problem in this world, and we need it to stop. If everyone will try, I think we can make our world a better place.

Words are words, but there is a language that counts: the language of kindness.” – Elizabeth, Willow fourth grader
