We are so excited to celebrate Black History Month together! Thank you to Willow parents Natalie Webb and Tiffany Crawford for organizing a wonderful month of events for our students, teachers, families, and parents. Natalie, Tiffany, and Willow’s Head of School Francisco kicked off our month of celebrations with a special Morning Gathering that you can watch below:

This Morning Gathering was just the first of many special Morning Gatherings planned for this month on a range of topics, from songs of the Civil Rights Movement to African dance, the story of Ruby Bridges, and more. Tune in to these presentations on Mondays and Fridays this month on our YouTube channel

We are also excited to host virtual evening events for parents and families this month! Join us for the following:

  • February 16, Tuesday, at 6pm – Black History Game Show: Who Invented This? Learn more about Black inventors and entrepreneurs in a fun game show for the whole family led by Natalie & Tiffany!
  • February 18, Thursday, at 6pm – Willow Parent Conversation with Dr. Valda Montgomery, author of Just A Neighbor: A Child’s Memoir of the Civil Rights Movement. Join us for an evening with Dr. Montgomery, who will share her story about growing up during the Civil Rights Movement and her parents’ involvement with Dr. Martin Luther King. Parents only – children will have their own event during the school day!
  • February 23, Tuesday, at 7pm – History of Soul Food & Cooking Demonstration Discover the history of Soul Food as you learn how to make dishes at home. Bring the whole family to cook together!
