On Friday, December 17, students and staff ran laps around our campus for our first-ever Willow Winter Dash, a fundraiser organized by our middle schoolers for The Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Students brought in non-perishables as an entry fee to the Dash, and parents pledged donations per lap. Thanks to all of our runners, walkers, donors, and middle school organizers, Willow collected 520 pounds of food and raised $9,094, providing more than 27,715 meals to neighbors experiencing food insecurity!

Today, we’re excited to share that, as part of the food bank’s 2021-2022 Students Change Hunger campaign, Willow won two awards! We are the proud recipients of the Division 2 Most Meals Donated & CFBNJ Overall Most Funds Raised!

We are so proud of our students and our generous community, and we are moved by the big impact you have helped us make in our community. Willow’s efforts contributed to the great success of this year’s Student Change Hunger campaign, where overall students in our area collected 58,000 pounds of food and raised a total of $36,900, providing more than 159,000 meals to our food-insecure neighbors. This proves that when students come together, great things are possible!

Representatives from The Community Food Bank of New Jersey visited Willow this week, sharing information on food insecurity, local statistics, what the organization does, and how our school’s contributions make an impact. Thank you, CFBNJ, for all that you do and for inspiring our students! You helped them learn that they are never too young to make a difference.
