When Rose Biedron looks back on her time at The Willow School, she doesn’t just think of classrooms, teachers, or projects—she thinks of the foundation that gave her the courage to take risks, carve her own path, and succeed in spaces previously unexplored.

“Willow taught me how to learn,” Rose explains, “how to face something new, shape my own approach, and trust myself to figure it out. Willow gave me the confidence to take on the risk of failure.”

Rose went on to study at the University of Miami, where she majored in Criminology, Sociology, and the Classics and minored in Business Law and Art. During her time there, Rose held a research position monitoring Darknet forums and studying emerging malware, and went on to write her Honors Thesis on cybercrime. Rose graduated Summa Cum Laude with Departmental Honors in 2023. She then obtained her Masters of Science at the University of Oxford where she continued her cybercrime studies in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department within the Faculty of Law. At Oxford, Rose was a member of St. Anne’s College, the sporting clays club, and focused her dissertation on the ways blockchain technology influences cyber offending and enforcement.

Through all these experiences, Willow remains a grounding force for Rose. “Willow is a place of self-discovery where you have the opportunity to learn who you are. Willow allows you to create your own sense of integrity.” It is this sense of self that guided Rose through her academic journey beyond Willow as well as various internships and jobs in law, healthcare tech, cyber security, and eventually to start her own business.

This year, Rose was recognized by Innovate100 as one of New Jersey’s Top 100 Innovators to Watch for her work in home health scheduling software with her startup, House Call. The idea was born out of an urgent need she noticed on a business trip: a lack of access to in-home healthcare. Rose’s mission with House Call The App is to empower healthcare providers while simultaneously increasing access to care for patients.

When asked about the role Willow has played in her life, Rose said, “It’s impossible for me to think about my life, the legacy I want to create, and not have Willow at the forefront of that conversation.” She described the foundation that Willow created for her, “Willow taught me how to learn and gave me the skills to do just that. Life is a collection of happenstance opportunities and Willow gave me the confidence to say yes.”
