Way to go, Grade 4! In just one hour, fourth graders sold out of the reusable bags they designed to raise money for 4Ocean, an organization dedicated to actively removing trash from the ocean and coastlines. This fundraiser is part of an effort by Willow fourth graders to reduce plastic, an idea that came from their studies of ocean life and the impact of plastic on those creatures in science class. Students also wrote letters to Governor Murphy requesting that he ban plastic in New Jersey.
Fourth graders’ impacting is reaching far and wide. Our students were featured on NJNews12’s Education Matters segment, and stories about their fundraiser were published in the Bernardsville News, MyCentralJersey, and the Courier News! They were also interviewed for another news segment on NJNews12 that you can watch below!
A limited quantity of more bags are coming soon! Contact Willow’s lower school science teacher Marissa Mizeski at firstname.lastname@example.org to pre-order your bag today. Read more about Grade 4’s fundraiser here.
