The magic of learning begins on your child’s first day of kindergarten. Even though transitioning your child into this new phase of his or her life may seem overwhelming, it doesn’t have to be! At Willow, we help ease the transition to kindergarten with fun, informative activities for parents and students.
Here’s a timeline of how we help our kindergarteners get comfortable in their new classroom:
Winter: Kindergarten Preview
In January, the year before your child starts kindergarten, you’re invited to Willow for a special presentation led by our kindergarten teaching team. Meet our teachers, discover our curriculum, tour the classroom, and get all of your questions answered before you apply! Our application process also includes a parent tour and student visit.
Spring: Popsicle Playdates & Student Classroom Visits
After you’ve been accepted to our program, the fun really begins! First, join us for a popsicle play date in the Willow woods in May. Here you can meet other kindergarten parents, and students can connect with each other. Preschoolers and new students are also invited to campus for a classroom visit to meet a kindergarten buddy who will help them explore their new classroom.
Fall: Back-to-School & Parent Classroom Visits
The school year is about to begin! On the day before the first day of school, Willow invites parents to campus for parent-teacher meet-and-greets. This one-on-one conversation is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s unique personality and needs. We also have a back-to-school picnic that afternoon so that you can meet even more Willow families!
At the end of September, we host our Back to School Night, where you will dive deeper into the kindergarten curriculum and the year ahead. Then, throughout the fall, parents are able to sign up for an hour-long classroom visit to experience kindergarteners’ joyful learning firsthand!
What makes Willow kindergarten unique?
Willow’s kindergarten program is specifically designed to harness the natural curiosity of this wondrous stage of cognitive and behavioral development, instilling a lifelong love of learning from your child’s very first day. Our play-based, exploratory program encourages critical thinking and problem solving, cultivates self-expression, and fosters a sense of belonging and responsibility to community.
